1840s-50s Stewart & MacDonald Lace Sample Book. Founded in 1826, Stewart & MacDonald were one of the great textile and fashion enterprises of 19th century Scotland. The laces here are set against a blue background and the effect is quite lovely. 10 leaves of blue coated page stock making 20 pages, with 25 white and black lace samples and 18 edging samples tipped in on 12 of them.
